History of the Club
The club was founded in 1978 and has been a constant focal area for the community of Westville North. It competes in the following athletics codes: road running, cross country and trail running; with a focus on the Comrades Marathon.
Over the years the focus of the running club has been on competing in the annual Comrades Marathon, in which its members have achieved fine results.
Chiltern received the Friendliest Club at the 2008 Westville AD Christmas Challenge.
Frankie Cawdry, one of our long standing members, was awarded the Spirit of Comrades in 2013 for her heroic return to running the Comrades three years after a serious motor vehicle accident.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Chiltern is committed to the principles of sustainable development-meeting the needs of the present membership without compromising the needs of future generations. We recognise the need to have an economically viable club, which satisfies the needs of its members and the community at large, by being representative of the surrounding neighbourhood.
